Surely it took both a jeweler and a bookbinder to create the lavish gem-laden treasure bindings of the Middle Ages. History is going to repeat itself in August when Richard Salley and Leslie Marsh team up to bring you “The Medieval Book of Trees” - a book workshop inspired by those luxurious works of art previously owned by only royalty or God.

Participants will craft etched hinges and a spring clasp, design and create a setting for a focal-point stone, shape a soldered set of book covers, print pages using collected leaves, and bind the fruits of their efforts together into what is sure to become their own treasured tome.

All materials necessary to complete the book will be provided. A $50 materials fee will be collected the first day of class.

  1. So attendance at this class requires previous soldering and sawing ecperience? (If I read that correctly.)
