Over this two-day workshop, I will show participants how to solder, stamp and embellish metal book covers, and how to bind them into a treasured book using Coptic binding - a technique that has been used since the second century. Students will also ecodye the signature wrappers used in their books as well as a piece of wool felt that they will stitch into a bag to hold their books. If you are not familiar with ecodyeing, it is a method of botanical printing that requires only leaves, heat and water to coax beautiful prints onto paper and fabric. And it is very addictive!
The skills (and handouts) students leave this technique-filled workshop with will arm them to make books of all sizes.
Kits will include everything necessary to to complete a 6" by 4" book similar as shown. Participants will have the option of emailing their own photos to be used in their book covers to me for sizing and printing before the workshop.

Small cutting mat
Paper awl (lightweight needle type)
Ruler
Scissors
Ultra fine Sharpie
*Chasing hammer
*Eyelet setter - 1/8"
*Bone folder
*Mechanical pencil
*Bench block
* these items are necessary to complete the book, but if you are willing to share, I have some you can use.
Space is limited. A deposit of 50 percent will hold your spot with the balance due October 1.
Cancellation policy: You will receive a 50% refund if you cancel before October 1.No refunds after October 1; however, you can transfer your seat if you find a qualified participant. If I have to cancel the workshop for any reason, all payments will be refunded.
